Quimera's AEGT Electric Racer Is One Extreme Proof Of Concept

The Quimera All Electric GT (AEGT) supercar has three (!) electric motors putting out 700 bhp. It can do 0-62 in 3.5 seconds and, thanks to extensive use of carbon fiber, weighs just over 3,300 lbs.  Powered by  lithium-polymer batteries, the AEGT is capable of a half hour on the track before needing a recharge.

“The AEGT is a living laboratory to test all the selected technologies,” said Alfonso Martinez, executive mechanical engineering director for Altran, the main technology provider for the AEGT project. “This first prototype has been designed in a very short time just to prove the validity of some unique design concepts and test the main performance targets of the vehicle.”

Quimera is a consortium of major multinational companies, government agencies and schools.  They’re all working together to promote vertical integration in urban sustainability, and they’re developing scooters and sustainable power sources. But first, they’ve got to prove that electric cars can be downright badass.  Hence, the over-amped race car.
